Action Sports Part 2 : Taking Initiative

So recently I came across some great photography by Marcus Maschwitz and contacted him about his work. I expressed to him how I was looking to break into the world of action sports and with his permission to use his shots, I would turn around an ad campaign. Something he can post as tear sheets and I can use in my portfolio.

Great Minds

A few months ago I came up with an idea to design a skateboard deck to look like a band-aid. After all, any decent or good skater knows that band-aids are a part of this culture. So finally today, I decided to look for a plain deck photo to execute my design only to find out that my concept has been done! The first image was done by Ken Mori using paint and a blank board. After this disappointing discovery, I googled "band-aid skateboard" and learned that SPY also have their own version of a "Band Deck."

Even though I wanted to apply this vision to my own portfolio, I am glad to see other visionaries out there dreaming up these clever and fun ideas. Until next time, stay creative friends.
